I’ve fallen in love with a tea towel! I don’t often have these sorts of cravings but when I spotted this stunning company on Beach Hut Cook’s Instagram feed, well, I fell in love.
Softer and Wild was founded in the picturesque East Sussex by two Fine Artists, Tatiana and Sean. The duo have backgrounds in graphic design, illustration, and window displays, in 2016 they decided to migrate their designs and art passions from paper to textiles.
I feel very lucky to be an ambassador for Softer + Wild and although I currently have some of their beautiful range, I’ll admit, I don’t think I’ll be content, until I have the full shebang.
The British company work closely with the fabric manufacturers to develop custom fabrics for each range. The tea towel material is quite thick and rustic, which gives for a very textured feel. The prints are absolutely stunning.
They seem to have very high sustainability and ethical standards, and subsequently the cotton is produced to high environmental standards. The cotton is unbleached and untreated, and is woven in a family-run workshop before heading to their lovely screen printing studio in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The colours are so vibrant and I’ve tested out the fabric and it washes very well indeed. All the dyes used are water-based and very gentle, and this certainly reflects the rustic and organic feel to their products.
This season’s ranges use turmeric, golden autumn, sea salt, poppy red, mustard and mango colours to bring the botanical patterns to life.
- Tea towels cost £9 – £15
- Aprons cost £30 – £36
